The five hour tour starts from your hotel with a drive through the City of Castries, with several short stops for photo opportunities of the Minor Basilica, Derek Walcott Square, Morne Fortune and Marigot Bay and banana plantation before arriving in the Roseau Valley, home of St. Lucia’s lone operating award-winning Rum Distillery, St. Lucia Distillers.
The Distillery offers an extensive line of specialty rums and liqueurs for tasting. The highlight of the tour is when the renowned “Rum Ambassador” gives the go to start the tour of the distillery and the start the lesson on the history and tasting of the unique Caribbean of rum. Put your palate to work and let your taste buds entice you to go for the next shot out of the 18 flavor – among them coconut, ginger, orange, coffee, mango, peanut to name a few.
As you walk around the tasting displays and serving yourself, you will learn about the history of sugar and rum in St. Lucia, the distillation process, colorful displays of St. Lucia carnival culture, and rum tasting.
